The Acura car company is a known automaker of vehicles that are built to provide quality, comfort and performance. The company's history in the auto industry is short compared to the decades that other makers have in their past, but their continued attention to detail has helped the company excel. Acura is under the Honda umbrella of automakers with the Japanese company bringing the Acura brand to American markets in 1986. Honda's intention was to provide a separate classification of luxury cars for consumers. Initially, only two Acura vehicles were on the market.

The Legend was a four-door sedan for consumers in need of a comfortable driving machine while the Acura Integra offered car buyers a sport coupe along with a sedan model. The Acura division was immediately popular in the United States, and consumers were interested in the vehicles high-end features and reputation.

It was also helpful for Acura that Honda was supporting the line as Honda's were known for stability and reduced ownership expenses. Acura launched the NSX sports model in 1991 and this release made the company even more popular. The NSX was able to provide consumers with the performance features of exotic sports cars without the hefty price tag.

The company increased their product lines and production efforts in the 1990s. Unfortunately, they faltered with several models such as an early SUV that was a dressed up version of an Isuzu model. Acura also decided to change the names of their popular models with alphanumeric designations and this didn't sit well with loyal consumers. The new decade brought change and the company recreated its products.

Acura launched the MDX, which was marketed to families for the third-row seating option. Additionally, the longtime popular Integra model was retired and the company released the RSX coupe in its place. A few years later they brought out a sport sedan named the TSX. The TL sedan endured an overall redesign along with the RL luxury sedan.

Unfortunately, Acura retired the NSX. However, the company did release the RDX, which was designed as a street-performance compact vehicle. Later, the ZDX was launched, which was a fastback crossover model. The company is still searching for its permanent place in the auto industry with decision makers shifting Acura's image and focus. Fortunately, for consumers, the automaker is in the business of constructing high-quality vehicles at affordable prices.

Acura vehicles are most often designed as front-wheel-drive vehicles with an excellent chassis and a perfectly tuned engine. Transmissions constructed for Acura vehicles are able to generate more power and the company has tweaked the external styling. The automatic transmission allows the gear ration from the engine to the drive wheels shift as the driver increases or decreases speed. Furthermore, the transmission runs at the same rpm level as the engine. Consumers can expect rebuilt transmissions to include mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems that work in sync with the computer controls. An Acura transmission is a quality piece of equipment that consumers can feel confident owning.
